G’day Mat,
Just have a question for yourself and Kiryn. I am currently looking at setting up a personal ‘child web’ site of my own under the company that I work for.
I find looking at agency and personal agent web sites they seem to all have the exact same genetics but are just written in a different font and different colours. What additional and unique information would you incorporate into a website to try and increase traffic from not only buyers and sellers but the local community?
Also with Facebook, what do you think the boundary would be with how personal you are? For example pictures of family, or strict business?
Cheers
Brendan
My main concern with child websites, usually called micro, mini or profile sites, is that they are created then left as a shell and basically abandoned . At the end of the day, it’s not really how good they look, its the amount of content in them, how much it’s updated and how much you care about the people coming to it. the conversation.
So in terms of something ‘different’ id say just really really use it, comment back to everyone that comes into contact with it. care, care and care some more!. you could event follow their tweets, check out their companies etc. (im not talking be a stalker, im just saying be interested in everyone)
I think it’s also a great idea to incorporate your ‘Base’ in your traditional media promotions too. along with your twitter account. (if you’re game!) hehehe
With the Facebook thing – look, i think the days of being a business man by day and a private party animal by night are long gone… there’s really nowhere to hide. and there really shouldn’t be anyway.
I think what this Social Media game is doing is making everything transparent & honest. so be mindful of how many tequilas you have on that ‘bucks’ next weekend! your next vendor will have a chance to see it all!
My basic rule of thumb is be true to yourself with what you post, if it’s what you love (family, friends, travel, surfing etc.) then it’s another piece of you, dont be shy about it.
Kiryn, I own a franchised office. I am currently talking to a company about search optimization which includes bloggs, twitter, faceback ect. The outcome I am looking to achieve is finding some new business both Property Management & Sales for my business. I am led to believe thsi does take time for these methods to start to get traction. My question is this.
1. The company has done a search on how many people have searched for particular key words with my target area to find out that it is none. My tartget area is a suburban area but people search the eg Brisbane istead of the suburb. Iam wondering if it is going to achieve my outcome or do I have my expections to high or have I totally missed the point to the goal for this type of marketing? What should be ones expection with social media be?
in my experience, it can be quite tempting to get caught up in the numbers of social media i.e. the number of followers, the unique visits, the amount of comments and other traceable statistics like keywords searched etc.
I think it’s nice to have these things as benchmarks, but by NO MEANS are they the goalposts.
the idea of these tools is to simply connect with people. to care about people in your market and in your area.
Also, Google keyword searches are not a metric that social media relies upon. thats more about ‘your base’.
Regarding search optimization too; it is only a part of that puzzle too. and it’s one of the later considerations once your base is built properly. hope that helps mate, KC
Just started in the real estate industry 10 months ago and was fortunate enough to have a good business and marketing background. I’ve invested a lot of time in creating a brand name as quickly as possible and I have gotten some very good results.
My website is http://www.vishuttam.com.au. I have a blog as well as the social media platforms up and running. I would sincerely appreciate to hear any comments, suggestions both of you may have.
Vish I took a look through your site just then and after a minute I’m not sure what you actually do? You have less than 10 seconds to achieve this with most people.
It looks professional, well done on that.
Also just on a small note I think you should change your favicon to make it look even more professional. (Speak to your designer)
