I have always wanted to help the younger people in real estate because I firmly believe age is no barrier when it comes to listing/selling homes, sure you are going to get those grumpy people that feel that maybe you are just a little too young to sell their place but move on and don’t worry about them. There is an ocean full of people who will want you to sell their home it’s just a matter of finding them then servicing the pants off them!!

You are so right with your comment about an ocean of people and moving on. I personally came into Real Estate Sales on my 18th Birthday and I have moved on from a few but have held onto many!

I agree with Brendan in regards to the hole you have filled in providing a category that acknowleges young Real Estate Agents. Hats off to you for the inspiration you provide!
There is no right or wrong age to begin a successful career if you are a strong enough person to recognise your mistakes and grasp the lesson you have learnt and use it to help you be a better person and a better Real Estate agent. No one does it right the first time!!

As you would of read, my name is Nicholas Bodley and I’m a real estate agent at The Professionals in Lismore. My role that I carry out in the office at the moment is P.A for 4 of our sales staff. In the upcoming couple of months I will be moving to Sydney for real estate because 1) It’s my passion, 2) I want to become as successful as you are and 3) I fell that there is more opportunity in the city.
I would like your advice on how to become the “top dog” in the industry that you are so big in. I have the drive and I endeavor to be the best.. Me at brief: At the age of 19 I have completed my registration course, have received my license and have my cert. 3 in real estate business. On top of this I’m undertaking the strive program which I must finish before long weekend June, which involves long nights.

Things I have learnt:
*You can create success anywhere, you just have to become good enough at what you do and success will follow.
*Service is they key to success.
*The 10,000 hour rule is real….. This means that to become an expert or a champion at anything at all you must first invest 10,000 hours into practice then you will start to leave your competition behind.
*Be patient, just keep doing your absolute best everyday, it will pay off.
*Keep your eye on your goal no matter what, you will arrive eventually.
*Prospect hard.
*Role play like your life depends on it. Practice so much that people think your obsessed.
*Watch what other successful agents do, then do that.
*Be prepared everytime. Don’t wing it people will feel it. If you are prepared you will already be 90% infront of the competition.
*Follow up everytime, no exception.
*Work 6 days until you create some lift off then pull back if you want to.
*Believe in yourself, because there will be times when you feel so alone on your journey that you will have to dig deep to keep going and when that happens the only reason you will keep going is because you believe in you.
*Be good to your Wife, girlfriend or partner. They deserve 100% love and respect always and nothing less.
*Think before you talk.
*Be happy, people are attracted to happy energy.
*Work your farm area with a laser beam focus, don’t take your eye off the ball.
*Listen to audio everyday in your car, don’t listen to the radio.
*Look sharp, dress for success.

Mmm, this is an interesting one.
You know real estate it is such an illusion business.
We sometimes put people on pedestal in this industry however what we perceive them to be or how successful they seem to be may not always be what it looks like.
I look at success very differently these days in this industry.
See someone may say I write this much business but what does that really mean?
Do they make lots of sales but don’t look after their clients?
Do they write lots of business but have no life?
Do they write lots of sales but really their team does most of it for them?
Success to me today in this business is vastly different than it was 5 or 10 years ago because today I think it’s about providing mind blowing service, database management, leading a team effectively by example, being a skilled listing agent and a skilled buyer agent, continuously learning and training, being a nice person and having a life.
See, that’s just my definition of a successful agent in this business and it may not be somebody elses. So really why I am telling you this? Just don’t compare yourself to someone when you don’t really really know them or their business because most of the time it’s not how it looks.
Anyway, agent under 25 that’s doing well? Mate, I’m not sure about an actual agent but there is a buyer agent in my office called Dan Walker that seriously is out selling most agents I know. He is selling so many homes and it’s 100% authentic. He is committed on every level to success, he works hard, his service is excellent, he is willing to do what it takes, he is hungry and he is young. Dan is one of the most successful 25 year olds I have ever seen in this business and I can tell you the reason why….. He really wants it!
