    Hey Mat,

Looking well mate, just a few quick ones

I noticed your desk is right next to the reception area, that must be a big distraction! I like how you have a normal desk like everyone else instead of a flash office to yourself.

It would be cool if you made a video of you making a call or two – although we wouldnt hear what the client is saying we could see what you say and how you say it.

Lastly, I totally agree with getting more work done when most people arent there. The challenge is puting in late hours at night, then going home to cook and eat something healthy and go to sleep at a reasonable hour. How is it done?

    Cheers

    Colin

      Hi Colin,
Yes open plan is good because it has a great energy about it when things are pumping.
The reception area can be sort of distracting if people just come in and want to see you but most people make appoints. I don’t take any walk in buyer enquiry, that just goes straight to the other guys so I get left alone mostly to make calls.
Ok, happy to do some calls on video, might be a bit of a boring video though :)
In terms of working and getting home and doing the things you mentioned. I sort of just put massive hours in for about 8 years and that gave me so much momentum that I could scale back eventually. What I mean by massive hours is I used to start work at 4.30-5.00 in the morning and finish at 10.00-10.30 at night. I guess it really depends on what your goal level is. If you are looking for bigger volume and don’t have a PA you just have to eat dinner late, he he.
Working long hours doesn’t automatically mean you will be successful and I don’t think being a workaholic is a successful person either however it’s more about how productive you are in the hours that you work and aligning yourself with the goals that you set. For me I had no money, no home and a baby on the way. I just ran as fast as I could to create what I wanted in my mind.
Everyone is different and I think the important thing is that you do what feels right to you.
      Mat
