A friend of mine was teaching a lesson yesterday (which class I was in) and he told us a story about a man had just been asked if he could fulfil a leadership position in a large organisation (this large organisation spanned most of the world). Before the man was able to be appointed they wanted to make sure he had the support of his Wife because the role is very demanding and requires much dedication, focus and commitment. His Wife confirmed that she was in support of his new role and then they moved forward.
Soon after the acceptance of the role they asked his Wife if she could deliver a brief speech about her husband and their life so far. During her talk she said “if there was one word that could effectively describe her husband it would be integrity”.
What an awesome assessment for your partner to give you!
Integrity is probably the most sought after attribute of a good character and the assessment by the closest person in your life is probably the hardest test to pass, because they get to see you and the person that you are when no one else is looking.
This story really made me think about how I can be better and what more I can do, so if anyone asked my Wife to choose a word that best described me she would choose integrity .
I think it’s certainly something to keep striving for.
